Description
16th Century ensemble consisting of a matching tunic and pantaloons constructed of pale gold velvet and trimmed with gold bullion ribbon. The tunic ornamented throughout with fine floral brocade of gold bullion thread through cream silk, beige silk and gold bullion crochet trim the cuff, sleeves jeweled with buttons of gold metal set with pearls and large topaz stones; hat of matching velvet trimmed with gold bullion, ornamented with a brown ostrich plume, gold broaches set with pearls; a pair of gold tights; pair of beige textured leather gloves, heavily ornamented with gold bullion brocade, gold bullion lace in a floral motif, initials "H" on each glove. The tunic has a cleaning tag which reads [CHRISTOPHER 707]. The pants have a METRO GOLDWYN MAYER label which reads [RONALD GREEN 1675 4501 30 21 1/2]. Note: The gloves were originally worn by Charles Laughton as Henry VIII in "Young Bess".
