Joanne Whalley was a British TV actress who was voted as one of the Most Beautiful People in 1991. During film of the 1988 film "Willow," she developed a romance with Val Kilmer was married to him until 1996. Most recently, she appeared in the television series such as “The Ark” and “The Borgias.”
“Trial by Jury” is a courtroom thriller dealing with jury tampering and blackmail and involves a housewife who undergoes psychological changes in the attempts to protect her son from the mob. It had an accomplished cast and some considered it Joanne Whalley’s best performance since the 1991 thriller, “Shattered.” But, the film was met with mixed reviews.
In the film, Whalley’s character, Valerie, owns a vintage clothing show which deals in the 40’s and 50’s. Costume designer, Mary Malin, used this as a vehicle to dress the actress in clothes from the time period to evoke a modern day film noir feeling which the film was trying to accomplish.
