<text>British actress and singer, Patsy Kensit, began her acting career at age four, but spend much of her early years as a lead singer in the band “Eighth Wonder” and her string of marriages to rock musicians. Her perfectly English looks with her blonde hair and her white skin that looks almost paper thin, made her a perfect match to play the role of Eugenia, a somewhat overbred and over privileged daughter.

Angels and Insects was a visually beautiful- yet boldly creepy- film that puts a microscope on the less than beautiful inner relationships of a Victorian estate. All of this is exposed through and outsider naturalist who marries into the family and is studying the courtship among insects only to discover there is little difference between the beauty and the violence of these two worlds.

Costume designer created a sumptuous colorful world where the characters, fluttering around the grounds of the estate, look like butterflies which were so much a part of the film, especially in the scene when this gown was worn by Kensit’s character who is introduced to the world of these beautiful insects. It is impossible to watch the film and not notice the contribution the costumes made to the film and the designer was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Costume Design for his work on this film.
