Ally Sheedy as Maggie DeLoach in 'Heart of Dixie' Designed by Sandy Davidson

1950's day dress, blue and white dot print cotton, with spaghetti straps, smaller dot print fabric detail at bust, red piping detail at hem; a blue cotton jacket with long sleeves, red cotton lining at front opening, one red button front closure at neckline, white trim at edges and sleeve cuffs; white petti-coat; white strapless bra and a red vinyl wide belt with buckle.

Heart of Dixie was set at a southern college and dealt with the experiences a trio of giddy coeds caught up in the racist and sexist traditions of the South in the late 1950’s. Ally Sheedy plays one of the coeds, Maggie, who has an awakening to the struggles of African Americans and confronts and stands up to mistreatment she sees.

Costume designer, Sandy Davidson, created a colorful, nostalgic and adolescent look for the Sothern belles which represented the look of the 1950’s. She would later give up costume designing to become successful in the world of interior design.
