Additional Notes
Barbara Stanwyck was an American actress who was most commonly known for her portrayal of strong female roles-- rejecting the roles of distressed housewives. Her sixty year career made a transformation into Television, where she is most known for her portrayal of Victoria Barkley in the “Big Valley” (1965-1969) and later in the 1983 miniseries “The Thorn Birds”. The role in “The Furies” was very similar to the role she would later play in “Big Valley” of a woman, who is as tough and as ruthless as any man when it came to protecting her ranch.
The traveling suit, designed by Edith Head, was somewhat atypical of the ranch clothes the character wore in the film, being her “going to town” suit.
