The scarf was acquired by the Selznick wife's family after Selznick's death. In going through his artifacts this scarf was found in his sock drawer, which he had kept as a memento of his relationship with Jennifer Jones. There was some resentment of it being there by Selznick's son from his first marriage, so they gave the scarf away.
